Lactose Intolerance

We always recommend you first speak to your baby's pediatrician to check which formula is the right one for your little one.

Most formulas contain lactose, a natural sweeter found in milk. You will know your baby has a lactose intolerance when he / she cries often after feedings, looks bloated and has diarrhea. Remember to wait at least 48 hours as some problems such as diarrhea go away with time as your baby's tummy adjusts. It is also always best to double check with your baby's doctor.

Even goat milk based & HiPP Hypoallergenic (HA) formulas contain lactose. These formulas contain Maltodextrin as a substitute:

  • Holle Stages 1 to 4
  • Lebenswert Stages 2 & 3
  • Topfer Stages 1 to 4

Even with these formulas, there is still a possibility of intolerance.

Both Holle Goat and NannyCare (Goat) contain less lactose than cow's milk formulas so they can sometimes work for babies that are lactose intolerant.
